17th Street High Heel
Drag Queen Race

A yearly Halloween tradition, this Dupont Circle event is exactly what the name says! Always taking place the Tuesday before Halloween the race is part athletic event, part fashion show, part block party.

The city is optimistic about the race coming back for 2021! If you are in town early, this is a great way to experience an amazing neighborhood culture and cheer on you favorite drag Meryl Streep (there are usually multiple).

National Gallery of Art - West Wing

Smithsonian

I know everyone has been here on some middle school field trip, but you really cannot beat free access to some of the best exhibits in the world. There are so many options, including:

  • National Air and Space Museum:
    New wing under construction!

  • Nation Museum of American History: Original Wizard of Oz ruby slippers anyone? Along with the other President stuff of course…

  • National Museum of the American Indian

  • Hirshorn Museum: National Gallery of Art too ho-hum for you? Here’s the trippy stuff.

  • National Museum of Natural History

  • National Museum of African American History and Culture: Reserve tickets ahead of time, it is super popular.

  • National Gallery of Art: Right next to the French Impressionist is a great place to get engaged…

Adams Morgan

The Adams Morgan neighborhood is so fun, it is hosting both our rehearsal dinner and after party! Centrally located along a stretch of 18th St and its surrounding side streets, there is no shortage of bars to have lots of fun.

  • The Line Hotel: Hotel that houses 3 bars/restaurants in a renovated church, gorg.

  • Lapis: Afghan cuisine with amazing cocktails.

  • Tail Up Goat: Michelin rated Mediterranean, deceptively fancy-delicious.

  • Sakuramen: Savory, guilty pleasure ramen that just got a liquor license so YAY.

  • Jack Rose: Whiskey on whiskey on whiskey.

  • Lucky Buns: Casual burger spot perfect for drunchies.

  • The Diner: Hangover cure.

LeDiplomate.jpg

14th St Corridor

The hottest stretch of bars, restaurants, and shops in DC! You won’t be able to walk the length of 14th in one evening.

  • Le Diplomate: Fantastic French food and atmosphere.

  • Shinola Showroom: Detroit company showcasing how to make your whole life match your watch.

  • Salt & Sundry: Curated houseware worth about a months rent.

  • Bar Pilar: Modern American food in an artsy old townhome.

  • Barcelona Wine Bar: Loud, tapas, outdoor fireplace.

  • Pearl Dive Oyster Palace: Delicious oyster spot!

  • Miss Pixie’s Furnishings & Whatnot: Antiques that Becky and Lynn love.

Potomac River with a view of Georgetown University
Intersection of 16th St. and K St.

Georgetown

The neighborhood hosting our wedding! Where everything is decorative, old, and beautiful.

  • Stachowski’s Market: Old school butcher shop serving sandwiches large enough to feed a family of 4.

  • Chez Billy Sud: Cozy French restaurant for the DC establishment that is a personal favorite.

  • & Other Stories / Reformation / Madewell / so much more: Great shopping down M St.

  • Jinx Proof Tattoo: Caroline and Eliza got matching sister tattoos here, would recommend if you’re in the mood.

  • Just walking around: Some of the best house porn in the city with most of the homes dating to the colonial era.

Black Lives Matter Plaza

A full two block section of 16th St Downtown facing the White House, this installment became an official landmark in June of 2020. Really an impactful sight in person, and makes the two block walk to the White House more thought provoking.
